Malaca?ang declared that September 10 of this year is a non-working holiday in commemoration with the end of Muslim’s Ramadan.

The holy month of fasting for the Muslim is about to end next weekend. So, that would be a 3-day holiday from September 10-12.

Republic Act No. 9177 was signed into law in November 2002 during the term of ex-president Arroyo. It states the declaration that the first day of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic calendar, a national holiday for the observance of Eidul Fitr.

Eidul fitr are two Arabic words, eidul meaning festivity and fitr referring to purification. They are cleansing their sins through the 30-day fasting period.

Their month of festivity always depends on the Islamic calendar so it would be changing depending on the dates.

Ramadan : A Muslim Tradition

Muslims around the world will be having their annual tradition of Ramadan where they will be have a 1 month fasting that will depend on the sighting of New Moon. It is an Islamic religious observance that takes place during the ninth month of the Islamic calendar; the month in which the Qur’an was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad . Muslims are commanded by the Qur’an to complete their fast on the last day of Ramadan and then recite the Takbir all throughout the period of Eid. Rama??n is a time to fast for the sake of Allah, and to offer more prayer than usual. Muslims also believed through good actions, they get rewarded seventy times as much as they normally can achieve. In the Philippines, Ramadan will be observe tomorrow and will end in a feast called Eid ul-Fitr. Were one with our Muslim Brothers in observance of this religious tradition.
