Official Gazette of the Philippines is Now Online
0The official online gazette of the Republic of the Philippines was launched on July 26. It is a digital version of public information regarding the Philippine government.
Through the office of the President, the Gazette’s print version was transformed into an e-publication. It contains matters of public interest, including newly-enacted laws and generally applicable executive and administrative orders. According to Manolo Quezon III, a member of the President’s communications team, this is to collate all government issuances under one executive site.
The main purpose of the gazette is that “Laws shall take effect after fifteen days following the completion of their publication either in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation in the Philippines”, stated in Executive Order No. 200 of 1987 issued by President Corazon C. Aquino.
There is a debate telling that the electronic gazette would be much faster in production since it could be alter from time to time.
However, Quezon said that the print version of the Gazette still takes precedence over its electronic counterpart. “So the Official Gazette online is updated daily, then the weekly edition is printed,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the online gazette will not only feature the present and future editions but also the past ones for easy accessibility.
