There are rumors that Congressman Winston “Winnie” Castelo of Quezon City filed House Bill 5379 or the Anti-Angry Birds Bill.

According to blog posts, Castelo got the idea for the alleged bill when he went shopping at a mall and saw a lot of angry birds merchandise. You might recall that it was Castelo who filed the anti-planking act or bill of 2011, which was criticized for being pointless. But this time around, this anti-angry birds bill is a hoax. If this were true then the major news websites here in the Philippines would have picked it up. A lot of people actually fell for it and made it a trending topic on Twitter.

President Benigno Aquino III made an assurance that the Philippines will soon complete its technical evaluation of its digital television format in the first quarter of 2012.

During a roundtable discussion between President Aquino and Japanese leaders, Marubeni Corp., one of Japan’s major companies raised its concerns over the Digital TV issue in the Philippines.

The Department of Education (DepED) NCR through its director Elena Ruiz has announced the suspension of classes tomorrow, September 27 in Pre-School, Elementary, and High School in NCR (Metro Manila) both public and private schools.

There will also be no classes in all levels in Antipolo, Rizal; Isabela; Quirino; Nueva Vizcaya; and Cagayan. NCR includes City of Manila, Caloocan, Las Piñas, Makati, Malabon, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Pasay, Pasig, Parañaque, Quezon City, San Juan, Taguig, Valenzuela and Pateros.

The Commission on Higher Education or CHED is the government agency in the Philippines that is tasked to announce the suspension of classes in the tertiary or college level.

With the suspesion of classes today, September 26 by DepED in the pre-school, elementary, and high school due to the heavy rains brought by typhoon Pedring, college students also wants to know if they have classes. CHED’s policy has always been to leave the decision to suspend classes to the administrators of the universities and colleges. As of this post, classes in all levels including college are suspended in EARIST Manila, Wesleyan College of Manila, and MLQU.

Susan Younghusband, the mother of Philippine Azkals players Phil and James reportedly died Saturday night.

The cause of death was a heart attack. She was 50 years old. The wake will be held at Funeraria Paz, Sucat, Paranaque.

The local government of Bunawan, Agusan del Sur is planning to build an ecotourism park and make the giant crocodile they captured on Sunday its biggest star.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Protected Areas and Wildlife Bureau (DENR-PAWB) confirmed that the saltwater crocodile is the largest living crocodile in the country measuring 21 feet long and 3.5 feet wide, and weighing 1,075 kilos. It is also believed to be the biggest caught alive in the world. A crocodile even bigger is still at large in the Agusan marsh.
