The Film Academy of the Philippines has reportedly selected the indie movie, “Ang Babae sa Septic Tank” as the Philippines’ official entry for the Best Foreign Film Category in the upcoming Oscars 2012 or the 84th Academy Awards.

“Ang Babae sa Septic Tank” is top billed by Eugene Domingo. It chronicles a day in the life of three ambitious, passionate but misguided filmmakers as they set out to do a quick pre-prod at Starbucks, a courtesy call to their lead actress, Eugene Domingo, and an ocular inspection of their film’s major location, the Payatas dumpsite.

Other movies that were considered were “Ikaw Ang Pag-Ibig,” “Thelma,” “Zombadings 1: Patayin sa Shokot si Remington,” “Rosario,” “Senior Year,” “Presa,” and “Dalaw.”

The fate of Domingo’s movie on whether it will be included in the list of Oscar nominees that will be read during the awards night in February 2012 will be known on January 24, 2012.

GCASH your way to the movies
Buy your tickets at SM Cinema website and pay via Globe GCASH

SM Cinema, the largest local chain of movie theatres today, in partnership with Globe Telecom is introducing the first mobile ticketing in the country or that will enable moviegoers to purchase tickets from the SM Cinema website, conveniently pay for it online using GCASH and redeem it at the cinemas using a mobile phone.

To access SM Cinemobile just log on to www.smcinema.com, create an account, purchase tickets and choose the “Via GCASH” payment option. Once payment has been made, an SMS notification containing the eTicket will be sent to the customer, which they can scan on bCode machines located at the cinema lobbies to instantly print the movie ticket.

Moviegoers are assured of a safe and easy transaction, as the eTicket service is compatible with any mobile phone, securely reading and authenticating the SMS-based encrypted codes from the handset screen using the interactive 3G-enabled scanning terminals. SM Cinemoblie is also available for IMAX Theatres and SM Digital Theaters.

If the moviegoers want to treat their loved ones to a movie, all they have to do is send the SMS notification containing the eTicket to their relatives or friends so that they may claim and use the tickets for themselves.

SM is the largest cinema exhibitor in the country today, currently operating 226 cinemas in 39 SM malls nationwide.

In addition, from May 1 up to June 30, 2011, Globe is giving free GCASH Cards to subscribers who will buy SM Cinema tickets online using GCASH. GCASH Card is the first fully customizable ATM card linked to a mobile wallet in the country, giving its subscribers 24/7 access to GCASH. The ATM card allows users to withdraw funds in their GCASH wallets via any of the 9,000 Bancnet, Megalink, and ExpressNet ATMs nationwide.

GCASH, a mobile money transfer service developed by Globe Telecom, has become the fastest-growing payment mode for online shopping, gaming, and payment sites both in the Philippines and abroad. Beginning with person-to-person transfers to airtime load purchases and bills payments, GCASH has expanded to internet payments and has now become a major payment option for internet shoppers who prefer quick and hassle free transactions.

Globe and TM subscribers can avail of the service through a one-time registration process via the GCASH Menu in their SIMs. The GCASH Menu provides the user with a guided experience without having to memorize key words. Subscribers may simply drop by any of the thousands of GCASH outlets and Bancnet ATMs nationwide or via BPI Express Mobile to load GCASH into their wallets. Once loaded with GCASH, subscribers may now fully enjoy sending money, buying load, paying bills, online shopping among other GCASH services at convenience of their fingertips.

As an added customer service, Globe and TM subscribers who want to use GCASH may call the 24/7 GCASH Customer Service Hotline 2882 FREE using their Globe or TM cellphone or (632)7392882 from any landline.
