Starting February 28, the news channel of GMA Network will be aired in Channel 11. The GMA News TV is being launched by the Kapuso with the tagline “Oras-oras. Alam mo!”

They are changing the game as the only station, who received the Peabody Award for its news and current affairs, will be offering its all news channel in free television. This will be from morning to night, all in Filipino.

The trailer aired reflects the vision of the network which is to deliver the news to the people every hour of the day just because they are are looking for it wherever and whenever.

Reported on GMA’s online site, the line-up of anchors to deliver the network’s tradition, Serbisyong Totoo, are forefront reporters namely Howie Severino, Mike Enriquez, Vicky Morales, Jessica Soho, Mel Tiangco, and Arnold Clavio.

Joining them are respected journalists in the industry Kara David, Prof. Winnie Monsod, and Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ) Executive Director Malou Mangahas. In addition, Sheila Coronel of Columbia University, Newsbreak’s Marites Vitug and Ed Lingao of PCIJ will be joining the channel as advisers for the investigative documentaries.

There’s something new. The documentarists of the network will do the newscasting. Actress-host Rhian Ramos will also deliver to the public the showbiz news via Spotlight.

GMA 7’s celebrity edition of Survivor Philippines revealed the 18 contenders who will undergo different mental and physical challenges. The show will be hosted by popular actor Richard Guttierez.

8 boys and 8 girls will compete to grab the first Celebrity Sole Survivor title. They will live in an island for 40 days and the fittest man will win.

Elmo Magalona, son of the late master rapper Francis M., sang one of his father’s masterpieces “Mga Kababayan Ko” in GMA7’s Sunday noontime show Party Pilipinas.

Elmo sang together with Francis’ concert version of the piece when he was still alive.

Young Francis it was, Elmo received countless claps from the audience.

Critics said he was as great as his father. He has the same singing ability plus he looks good on screen.

Pia Magalona, mother of Elmo, together with her two other children watched him in his performance. Maxene was not there. Pia was teary-eyed while seeing his son performing because added to the performance were pictures and videos tribute to the late legend of Pinoy music.

Another movie is about to be transformed into an afternoon series entitled ” Tinik sa Dibdib “. The project stars Marvin Agustin who will play the role of Phillip Salvador while Sunshine Dizon gives life to Nora Aunor’s character. They were about to start taping the series this coming September 9. watch out for it!

Iloilo Strict Teacher Carol Gementiza made her final journey to the competition on the second Tribal Council meeting of the Koror Tribe as she was voted out from the competition last week. The casting of votes was made during the Tribal Council of the Koror Tribe after they won the challenge over the Airai team. There are several reasons why the tribe decided to voted her out and that was related to their physical challenges where she can’t actively participate. GMA-7′s reality- based Artista Search Starstruck is now looking for new batch of stars for their 5th season this year. There will be a grand launch this coming August 30, Sunday in major cities nationwide, with the cooperation of SM Supermalls. Auditions are open to all male and female contestants ages 16-23 years old, a Filipino citizen, can sing,act and dance. Applicants are asked to bring their original and photocopy of their birth certificate, aclose up and whole body picture, a valid id and a parental consent and Id if the applicant is below 18 years old.
