John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo, Hailed as Box Office King and Queen of 2008
0The Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation Inc. hailed John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo as its Box office King and Queen for 2008. This was after the success of their movie, A Very Special Love. The event was held last Sunday at the 4th floor of the RCBC Plaza. The event was hosted by Bianca Gonzales and Tirso Cruz III. Pussy Cat Dolls, Now in Manila
0Pussycat Dolls arrived yesterday in NAIA for their upcoming concert this Thursday, June 11 in SM Mall of Asia Concert grounds.The group is composed of Kimberly Wyatt, Ashley Roberts, Melody Thornton and our very own Half-Pinay lead singer, Nicole Scherzinger. . They have been successful in the music industry since 2003 as their popular songs buttons , don’t cha and stick with u became a hit. On their second album, songs like When I Grow Up and I Hate This Part also topbilled the music charts. The Jai Ho song ( you are my destiny) became a hit this year as they collaborated with Indian singer A.R. Rhaman. The song became the OST of the Oscar Winner movie, Slumdog Millionaire. This would be the 2nd visit of Pussy Cat Dolls to our country way back in 2006 where they performed at the Araneta Coliseum.
GSP Celebrates 69th Anniversary
0This year marks the 69th year of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines. Chartered as a national organization on May 26, 1940, It is a worldwide movement that provides girls and young women, aged 4 to 21 years, a non-formal progressive education program based on spiritual values and the ideal of service and aims to help girls and young women realize the ideals of womanhood and prepare themselves for their responsibilities in the home, the nation, and the world community. The organization was founded by Pilar Hidalgo Lim, , Josefa Llanes Escoda,and other committed women leaders. This year, Teresita B. Choa, GSP’s National President will have their 21st National Council Convention of the GSP on May 25-27, 2009 in Tagbilaran City with the theme “Join in, Reach Out, Change lives,” the convention will be attended by about 350 delegates from the 95 councils all over the country.

1A groundbreaking ceremony was held in front of the ABS-CBN Studio that will be a new venue for the Wowowee Studio.TV Host Willie Revillame will erect a studio-mall complex worth P400M will be built in his 2,920 sq. m. property,it will be called “Wil Theater Mall”,with state of the art facilities for ABS-CBN employees and Wowowee supporters.ABS-CBN President Charo santos Concio,TV Head Cory Vidanes,Star Magic Head Johnny Manahan and Wowowee Director Edgar Mortiz were present at the ground breaking to show support to Willie Revillame.Willie said it is one of his fulfilling dreams that is now a reality.
Piolo Pascual Attends Cannes Film Festival
0Piolo Pascual will be leaving for the screening of “Manila” at the Cannes Film Festival in Paris,France.He will stay for about a week to observe the said festival.Piolo is greatful enough that his movie is included in the festival.Other Pinoy films will also be screened on that festival namely,Kinatay by Brillante Mendoza and Independencia by Raya Martin. “Manila “, a movie produced by himself, will also be screened in Cinemalaya in July.Last May 8,he just finished the first shooting day of his new upcoming self-produce movie Kimidora starring Eugene Domingo and Dingdong Dantes.

0Soxie Topacio’s entry for the Sine Direk was graded “A” by the Cinema Evaluation Board.Ded Na si Lolo,depicts the traditional days of wake and the Filipino superstitious belief when a relative dies.It is composed of a powerhouse cast like BJ Forbes,Manilyn Reynes,Gina Alajar,Elizabeth Oropesa,Dick Israel and Roderick Paulate who will play as the family members who was survived by the “Lolo” in the Movie.The movie is now screened in slected theaters nationwide.
